I like to do things to keep my hands busy while watching TV or attending long meetings where I have to pay attention but not take notes. On a whim I decided to give cross stitch a try and I really liked the cute parrots on the line from this series. I received it quickly and it has everything you need! Here are a few things: 1. The "instructions" require you to know at least a few things about cross stitch in order to be able to interpret them. I recommend watching a few videos, just search "cross stitch with print for beginners". Then the guide makes a lot more sense! 2. There are MORE than enough threads for the project (many left). On the front of the package there is a code (in this case 11CT 3 threads) that indicates the number of threads you are using when sewing (in this case 3, 11CT refers to the fineness of the fabric and therefore the number of Crosses you can sew make per inch, larger numbers mean smaller stitches which are tougher). Each piece of "thread" is made up of 6 strands (or "skeins"), so you'll need to separate three of them to thread them through the needle. If you try to use all of the thread (or worse, try to use three of them) you will not be able to thread the needle and you will quickly run out of thread. When you run out it's easy to find more as they use a standard code for each color.3. The only thing not included in the kit that is very useful is the needle threader. You can get it from Revain or even your local grocery store. They are cheap!4. The colors printed on the fabric are very vibrant, which makes the sewing process easier and reduces the attention you need to pay while sewing. They shimmer through the stitching a bit but I haven't washed them yet. There are clear instructions on how to wash off the seal.5. You will learn this from the video but make sure all your stitches are the same as this will make a big difference in how the pattern will look in the end. I accidentally did a row back and it stuck out like a sore thumb and I ended up picking it up and doing it again. I actually learned all this from the video, but the result makes me feel very professional! This project takes many hours and I'm really enjoying it! I plan to buy a few more sets and I recommend it to you!
