This product really helped us protect our closets from children. I'd recommend lining up the pieces as best you can, but if you make a mistake (I've done this a few times despite my best efforts), the glue doesn't stick right away, so I was able to fix the placement without question. The glue had no effect on our cupboards either. I am guessing that there were two release handles in the package. We installed them on our kitchen cabinets and also in our children's playroom for a cupboard with small toys. This allowed us to have a trigger handle in each room. My child goes to the cupboards and pulls (very hard for his size) on the cupboards to open them and they won't open. The product has also withstood this stress in recent months and shows no signs of wear. Definitely a great product that I would buy again.
