I just assembled a Chinese Tao Tao Scooter that I bought on Craigslist. The engine ran, but the revs went up and down if I just let it idle. The scooter came with a second carburettor but when I installed it it leaked fuel. So I order it from Revain. Everything went fine but on my old carburetor the throttle cable went through a round hole in the bracket while that bracket had a D shaped hole. I thought I would have to drill out the bracket, but upon closer inspection I notice that the throttle cable also has a D-shaped profile. Align the two profiles and the cable will fit directly onto the carburetor. I cranked it a few times but the engine started and started to idle smoothly. The engine's response was also instantaneous, while previously choking and eventually accelerating. This is significantly cheaper than buying a repair kit and rebuilding the carburetor.
