Good buy for my needs.

I recently bought a Max Performance Mac Mini (2018) and used it with a 10 year old 27" Apple Cinema Display via DisplayPort and a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter. However, I like to use two monitors; and the cost of very few 4K or 5K monitors with all their hassles and Mac Mini and Mac Pro costs were not very attractive. The lower resolution of the Apple display is great for me as my eyes age. So I broke down and bought an Apple Thunderbolt Display. same packaging and resolution but slightly newer and also discontinued. This came with the original stand; However, the previous user used a VESA adapter plate to attach the display to a wall-mounted mount. I had the choice of replacing the old stand or adapting an old cinema display with an adapter plate and using the VESA mounting system. Of course I chose the latter. I chose the HUANUO dual monitor stand because it's one of the few that has two independent rotating arms instead of a center stand. It also has a monitor weight of 26 pounds. Cinema and Thunderbolt displays are heavy. about 23 pounds without original stand. It was pretty easy to assemble. The only tricky part is getting the VESA plate connection onto the mounting brackets. It's not a loose fit and it's difficult to get the screw through the pivot of the arm and plate. I found it much easier to remove the upper gas shock arm and put the display down to mount it, then lift everything back up and mount it on the rotary arm vertical shaft. The direction must be reversed to be mounted this way, especially on heavy displays. How do gas struts work at this weight? Excellent. Adjustable to position and hold the monitor vertically without lowering it. My only warning, and one star deducted from stability, is that the display rotates from portrait to landscape too easily. When setting there is an easy game. Otherwise, tilting back and forth works just as well as rotating the monitors into different positions. I recommend the HUANUO Dual Display Arm to everyone. This is a great purchase. BTW I installed the mines with a base clamp instead of drilling a hole in the table and the clamps are very strong. This made it easier to migrate to a newer and larger table in the future.
