While I'm working from home, this bamboo fan/stand sits on my desk and gently cools my slightly overheating laptop (I suspect the internal fan in my laptop is broken 'Cause I never can't hear it turn on This AC fan is so quiet that the light helps determine speed - the light dims as the knob is turned to slow the fan and the light will slightly brighter when the knob is turned to get the fan up to high speed I thought the light would be annoying but it's barely noticeable unless you pick up the laptop (and even then it's in a good one barely noticeable in a lighted room.) The battery compartment on a laptop used to get very hot, but now, even after a full day and night with this silent fan, the battery stays that way r constantly running under it, slightly warm but nowhere near the scalding temperature it once was. And durable bamboo is a welcome change from the more plastic and metal "tech" stuff. Highly recommended! (In the first photo the light and fan are off, in the second photo you can see that the light is barely visible when the fan is on). One thing I did that someone else here suggested is put two sticky rubber beads (the kind you would put on the inside of a closet door to reduce the sound when the door slams) on the bottom corners of mine to attach laptops. . This allows the fan to get more airflow under the laptop.
