Fantastic tunnel but not for Syrians

I bought this tunnel for my Syrian hamster Paul Simon. It went into him as soon as I put it in his tank, but once it went through one of the holes it definitely got tight. He got out, but right after that I pulled out of the tunnel. He's not a big hamster, he just has a lot of fur. My other Syrian is much larger and definitely wouldn't fit at all. That would be great for dwarf hamsters though! (Photos by Paul Simon for reference as I don't have him in the tunnel. He has food in his cheeks.)
