Letting our son sleep in his backpack and play in his sleep was tedious, packing and playing underneath is very inconvenient so we bought this rug to try (it's also a great pillow to play with) we have a firm side and it's perfect for a baby. He can ride and play in a pack without getting excited and when he gets tired he lies down and sleeps and honestly I would sleep on him too if the pack and play could support my weight. I recommend looking for the best price by all means as most are the same, but I like being able to switch from hard to soft and vice versa. The pad is great too because if he burps or has a stroke I put on a diaper, I just have my sheet and blanket instead of frantically rubbing the pad.
