I couldn't find the right phone mount for my truck. There's a ton of cheap plastic junk out there with all sorts of bad reviews. I found a metal device that was highly rated and seemed simple and reliable. But it has a 1" RAM ball. I have RAM mounts for several items on my bikes and planes so I looked around and found this base. Base diameter 2.5". As it turns out the (useless ) Coin holder in my Toyota Tundra right where I wanted the phone holder and the round hole it installed in is 2.5". Boom! I'm really really happy with how it turned out. Solid construction and the phone no longer slides on the console.
