The floor tiles in my house have an unusual pattern. Over the years, the beige grout has darkened in high-traffic areas. After spending a whole day on the floor cleaning a very small area with a small handheld steamer and grout brush, I gave up and bought SteamFast. I was concerned about the durability ratings from others but couldn't find any issues. This is a great little unit! Not only are my joints very, very clean, not a single nozzle is broken. Cleaning was almost easy with the wand extensions and small brush head. To be able to stand up (save my back) and get such a great result was worth the cost of the machine! If you use a steamer, let the steam do all the work. The small nylon grout brush is designed to loosen dirt, not scrub. If your grout is heavily soiled, you can pre-treat it with baking soda/water, a detergent mix or a special grout cleaner for 15 minutes before steam cleaning to soften the dirt. Another reviewer stated that the brush would melt due to the heat - I did NOT find that to be the case. One brush removed 1,300 square feet of fairly messy grout. The bristles were bent and dirty at the end, but not melted. The sticks were not broken or bent. Once I learned to move the nozzle back and forth (without squeezing the brush/wand) to direct steam over the grout, I found the process much easier and quicker. I highly recommend using a microfiber mop to wipe the water out of the steam as you clean each small area. The mop collects dirty water that flows out of the grout. You will be surprised how much dirt there is. I had to wash the mop quite often. I went to SteamFast and bought an extra set of grout brushes (which arrived in just a few days) and ordered a subscription with free shipping. The cost was very reasonable and will hopefully encourage me to clean the grout more regularly! I know there is a better design for storing the unit's hose and cord after use. You need to secure them somehow so they don't unravel. There are several attachments included in the kit and I found the plastic box handy for storing them. This is a good product and I highly recommend it. It replaces my current steam cleaner. This device is much more powerful and the vapor really lasts for 45 minutes!
