Review on TOTO SS113 01 SoftClose Transitional Toilet Seat by Paul Barnes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

So I was a bit disappointed but decided to go ahead and install it.

I was quite concerned when I ordered this as many reviews said this seat was not of the same quality as originally supplied by TOTO. When I received this seat I compared it to the old original (which was yellowing badly over time) and found the following: Both seats were the same size. The new seat seemed a bit "weaker” to me in comparison. seats not installed This comparison seemed to confirm what some of the negative reviewers were saying, so I was a bit disappointed but decided to go ahead and install it anyway. Everything started to improve here. Installation was easy (I used the hardware I already had from the old seat, but the new seat came with hardware as well). The fit was perfect, just like the original seat. the color matched perfectly - The most important thing is that the "fragility" observed before installation has completely disappeared. This new seat is just as good as the old one. The soft close feature took a few weeks to "catch up" and works great now. The seat does not move during use and leaves no complaints. I can confirm that the plastic may not be the same as the original seat (it may be a different composition), but the looks, functionality and performance are what I expected. I have no doubt that the original seat was probably more expensive to manufacture and possibly more durable, but this new seat meets or exceeds our needs. It's just a toilet seat, after all, and as long as it's not "built like a tank," I'm fine with that. After all, I don't use that thing to block shots. * Follow-up after 2 years of use: This seat still works and looks like new after 2 years of use. We only have one bathroom so there is a lot of movement in here. Another fan!

Pros
  • SoftClose reduces injuries and eliminates "toilet seat clapping"
Cons
  • Expensive
