For the first couple months this weight worked pretty well for me. I have two of the 55lb adjustable dumbbells.The weights have some odd idiosyncrasies: One requires the user to change the position of the weight in their hand while using it because the weight isn't perfectly balanced, but this doesn't make it unusable. Sometimes the hard plastic protrusions on the handles will press a sensitive spot in your hands, but that's simple to fix just by griping different. Sometimes the plastic holder for the weights will stick to the dumbbell when you pick it up; forcing you to put it back down or nock it off, odd but usable.The one thing that made me come here and write a one star review is the plates can, and will fall out of the dumbbell during use. This didn't happen during the first couple of months, but after a few months of about 1-2 hours every other day normal use, the plates have begun falling out during use. I ensure the plates are appropriately locked into the dumbbells before picking them up, I don't abuse my equipment, and this has occurred in both of the dumbbells I ordered. This leads me to believe this is a normal degradation of this equipment.Unfortunately, this is unacceptable. This not only renders the dumbbells almost unusable, but also presents quite a dangerous safety hazard to the user. It's not fun to be smacked in the face by a falling plate when exercising. Not the best way to start your day.
