Our son weighed 10 pounds 7 ounces at birth and immediately started wearing size 1 diapers. We used free diapers from the hospital for the first few days, then when they ran out we switched to these. With the pampers, we could fold the top so it wouldn't irritate the umbilical stump, but they were so stiff they didn't want to fold, so I cut out a "U" in the front. When they get very wet, the little "balls" that soak up the urine swell and start coming out from the top. Hopefully the notochord stump falls off soon so I don't have to mess with it much longer. I have a hard time telling if they are as absorbent as Pampers because we switched just in time for my milk to arrive. So I feel like I need to change them more often, but I would change all diapers more often. I wish they had a stripe on the front so you can tell when they're wet. Also, I would have liked them to be a little softer. Otherwise it's a decent diaper.
