After less than 6 months of use, I noticed that the plug that was supposed to protect was badly rusted. Obviously not protected from water. In the past 4 years without a case, the worst thing I've had has been slight oxidation on the contacts. This coating made the situation much worse because it obviously allowed water to pass through but not evaporate, leading to corrosion. Keep in mind that I live in the desert and it rarely rains so it doesn't feel like a high humidity environment. If you want your fork to keep bugs and debris out, this works well, but if you want to keep your fork dry, look elsewhere.
