Review on Rancho RS62116 RockGEAR Skid Plate by Jason Robinson

Revainrating 1 out of 5

rancho wrong.

I spent hours on the phone with Rancho Customer Service. They asked and I sent photos, a copy of the receipt, my jeep VIN etc etc and have not received a reply yet. The rear lugs closest to the driveshaft are at a slightly wrong angle and the fat guy isn't long enough to step on them. Bad due to manufacturing defects as it looks like a good diff skid plate but useless if you can't fit it without Mickey Mouse Jerry installing it. This is compounded if you also buy a ranch diff cover, as the cooling fins prevent you from first threading the rear u-bolt through the tabs and then applying force or bending it up to seat the four bolts . Better buy elsewhere until/when they fix it. Update: Dan Garn at the ranch worked with me and the ranch production/engineering department. I sent him lots of pictures and we tried different things to suit him. Still no luck! However, Rancho takes it a step further and sends me a new skid plate just in case I just had a bad part! I'll update my review after pinning it to see if it really fits. Let ranch know if they need to produce production mods. So be careful until they fix it. It is not possible to screw in the rear U-bolt unless you are willing to make modifications that could damage the powder coating and lead to rust (by flexing the rear tabs in a vise) or by flexing the hardened U-bolt .)
