Sometimes I really don't understand people! Especially the person who put the product IN THE OUTER ring! The instructions SPECIFICALLY state to attach the band to the OUTSIDE of the INNER RING. If the product had been used as advertised, she could have saved herself some trouble! I have used this product on the outside of an inner tire as advertised and have had no problems. I've used it on fabrics from kitchen towels to velvet and haven't had any slippage since applying this product to the OUTER INSIDE FIVE! Before, I just couldn't tighten the outer hoop enough to really get the fabric tight. That's no problem now. I make sure removing the hoop every time I put off work so as not to damage the fabric with a permanent ring. It will be interesting how many times I can move the tire before it stops working. Those who say the product is smooth need to remove the backing! When I put it on the hoop, I first left the pad and wrapped it around the hoop. Only when one side was stuck to the tire did I remove the pad. There were a few spots where it didn't stick to the tire initially, and when I tried to press on it without a backing it even wanted to stick to my fingers. Yes, it was a bit of a hassle to get the pad going, but once I lifted it up a bit at one end it became a very easy task. When I put it on the hoop I left the pad first and wrapped it around the hoop.
