I've tried french press, siphon, turkish coffee maker, chemex, coffee maker and for the last couple of decades I've used a plastic cone with a paper filter. This stainless steel filter is the right combination of the best coffee and easiest cleaning and I have just ordered a second filter. I can detach the base from the cone and throw both pieces in the dishwasher and I like the taste better than the paper filter. There is a little sediment at the bottom of the cup, like Turkish coffee, which doesn't bother me. I grind my coffee really well and can have less deposits, faster brewing and weaker flavor with coarser grinds. Bonus: There are holes in the base big enough to look into the cup as you pour - no need to lift the cone multiple times to see when the cup is full. I don't find it takes any longer to make a cup than my paper filters.
