Review on Wi-Fi signal amplifier (repeater) TP-LINK RE205, white by Janis Bike ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I expected mediocre quality, but the product was pleasantly surprised.

I have successfully used this device as a wi-fi LAN (Ethernet) adapter for a personal computer in a back room. Fortunately, after ating the firmware, it became possible to disable the distribution of wi-fi on both channels. I plugged the repeater into a filter outlet equipped with a switch that powers the computer. And, thus, it turns on only with the computer. Set the "fast" mode (only 5 GHz). The data transfer rate for a 10-megabit network card over a local area network ranges from 25% to 50%. For torrent (port forwarding is installed on the router) - up to 75%. I do this because commercially available wi-fi adapters are connected to a computer via USB, and not via LAN (respectively, they occupy a port and an interrupt), they are often unstable and five-GHz ones are rare (for commercially available ones, the price is comparable to repeaters).

Pros
  • White, looks cute. Supports 2 bands. Has a web interface.
Cons
  • As a repeater, it works disgustingly. Wants to work in bridge mode: distribute your wi-fi with a different name. Also, there is no Ethernet cable included.
