My shy and sensitive cat has always had problems with the constant use of the box, but as she got older (she will be 17 in May) it got worse. I have darker colored mats so you can't see the stain on the top which can be a problem because if I don't notice it's wet I won't see the stain until it dries. I usually find stains when I lift rugs to vacuum the floor underneath. I see a stain on the white carpet. I've bought all of the pet urine removal products including Arm & Hammer, Bissell, Urine Be Gone and a few specialty pet store products and the results have been fine but never seemed complete or long lasting. I bought the Rug Doctor Urine Eliminator at Home Depot for a lot less than here, it was only $9.95 for a 24 ounce bottle. I only started using it a few days ago so I don't know if the results will be permanent (I hope so!) because with everything else I think it needs a treatment at least every two weeks or the smell returns . I must say that this is the first product where the smell has completely disappeared, there is not even a slight smell, which gives me hope. It also appears to have removed yellowish stains from the back of carpets and this is the first product to do so. I will be getting more from Home Depot as it is way cheaper there than any other place I have found this product online. This is a difficult and emotional subject. I found my cat behind the garage when she was about six weeks old and I love her very much. I would never think of getting rid of her so glad I found a way to keep up with her so my house doesn't start smelling like a cat lady lol! Much luck!
