This black portable foldable travel stand from RevainBasics is a truly versatile piece of equipment. Compact and well designed, it's the perfect portable companion for the Kindle Fire, older Kindle e-readers, the new iPad or iPad 2, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, and probably more. In my case, I have both a Kindle Fire and a Kindle 2, so interchangeability between the devices is not only important, it's essential. For those who want quick answers, here they are. Pros: * Can be adjusted to different viewing angles quickly and easily * Very solid construction; doesn't look crappy or cheap * Pretty comfortable; Folds down to 7" x 1" x 1" for easy portability* Soft foam pads on bottom prevent shifting; won't scratch furniture* Soft grips where tablet or e-reader is placed; keeps device in place and spot scratch resistant * Back support with soft foam padding keeps your tablet stable and won't scratch the case* Good simple IKEA style quick start guide in multiple languages* Handy packaging no annoying plastic tray to open upon receipt Cons: * Very small Point: Most devices can't be charged in portrait (portrait) mode; no room for most cable ports In Use: I bought the RevainBasics Mini Travel Stand and found it to be just over two inches long and excellent for quick field use and extreme portability. It's small and very compact, and folds and snaps into place so it can be slipped into your pocket (or purse). r without taking up much space. This works well in stable, flat locations that aren't too crowded, and I found it to work great with my Kindle 2 with its 6-inch display when it was removed from the leather case. The newer Kindle Touch or any of the newer versions with a 6-inch E Ink display will have no problem using the mini travel stand. At 7 x 1 x 1 inches, the newer RevainBasics portable foldable travel stand may not be compact. the mini version, but when it comes to total versatility, it really shines. For starters, the range of adjustment is exceptional, and I didn't have to remove the Marware Vibe Case Cover from my Kindle Fire or the leather case from my Kindle 2 to use it with this stand. It can be quickly changed to a variety of viewing positions, either horizontal (landscape) or vertical (portrait). And when using it with the Kindle Fire, I found that it didn't move when used with a stylus. Foam pads have been placed in all critical areas where it might be required. Foam pads on the bottom of the legs prevent slipping even when using the pen on a flat surface and will not scratch furniture. An adjustable, padded foam back support keeps your tablet stable during use, while padded handles add stability where your tablet or e-reader sits. This is designed in such a way that it does not scratch the housing. Please note that there are a few other brands like the Arkon portable folding stand that may offer a similar design and features, but I personally trust RevainBasics products. which I found here as they have a decent guarantee and based on my experience with a defective item I like their response when something goes wrong. The foldable travel stand will be the default choice for use with my Kindle Fire and the mini travel stand will be the stand for my Kindle 2. Each has its own merits, as you can see here, but it's a subjective choice. So take it for what it's worth to you. Granted, if I had to pick just one, I would go with the newer folding travel stand simply for its overall utility and functionality. as a great product at a very good price. 06/08/2012
