I am using this feedback tester to give an ethernet port a bearer so the status is 'on' becomes. Not only that, but I expect the connection speed to be 1Gbps as advertised. I tried this on 3 different Intel NICs: I350, X540-AT2 and X722/577. The I350 supports speeds of 10/100/1000, but with this tester it only connects at 100 Mbps. The other two cards are 10G BaseT and they don't connect below 1Gbps, so this tester wasn't able to determine the port status on the last two cards. I bought 2 of these by the way and they both behave the same. This was disappointing as I also bought "CablesOnline 6-Pack 10/100 4-Pair Ethernet Green Loopback Plugs, TS-UL02-6" for $9.99 and plug them in as advertised for 100Mbps. So this tester costs me almost the same as these 6 10/100 Mbps ports, but only delivers the same connection speed. for 10/100 Mbit/s. And since they don't really offer the speed I need, there doesn't seem to be a reason to pay 5x more than just get 6 CablesOnline packages.
