I bought this to replace a smaller curler from a competing brand. I've been using it for about 2 months and I'm very happy with it. The temp gets pretty high but doesn't seem to be as close to my scalp as my old tool (I use a flat iron to get close) but it also doesn't burn my scalp/neck/face (which quite a bit happens is common). with my old) curls and straightens super! It also has an auto shut off feature which my old one didn't have which is probably the BEST improvement for me. I have to use a flat iron on the areas around my head if I don't blow dry my hair first, but I don't mind at all. It's very durable and the only gripe is that the cord is very short, about half the length of any other styling product I currently own. It hurts a little.
