May 25th, 2021, I am updating the question on Singing Wood T25 speakers. So many people have said they sound so much better without the grill. Without doubt ! What was singer Wood thinking with all the cell phone flare? I think the speakers look very basic without the grilles and a lot sexier with them. This flash is not some magical 3D sound diffusion engineering project. Why singing wood? I'm still sticking with them because of the near-field dynamics when using a subwoofer. Decent sound for the price and good heavy construction. I have many high quality speakers with high SPL sensitivity. I bought these based on reviews and for a Class A Pre to Class AB tube I designed. I evaluate different modules, circuit boards and lamp hybrids. The Singing Wood T25 speakers arrived the same day, as did the quad-tube Rockville Blue Tube 4, a wood-capped version of the Rockville Blue tube as I wanted to compare it to the twin-tube hybrid iNFi IF-AD05. Pre and AB final edition. Having said that, I realized what the heck, I'm gonna put them together (Rockville singing with Wood). First I said "X is dry and bad!" After 48 hours at low volume I hold the accelerator pedal at medium volume for a bit as Rockville can damage the Singing Wood voice coils. After those 48 hours between the Singing Wood speaker and the amp, I found a completely different soundstage. I am very satisfied with these small loudspeakers when used in the near field. THE BAD: As many have said, the sound is much better without the grills. No doubt. Who at Singing Wood designed this grill? wow ! There is so much plastic webbing behind the fabric grille itself that it's unbelievable and in many ways a major choking point. I placed cotton balls between the plastic fabric and the grill cloth to separate it, then used my Lindstrum flush cutters and removed a good amount of the plastic fabric while maintaining structural integrity. This amount of plastic sticks/webs is just the folks from Crazy Singing Wood. They aren't sexy without a grill so I'm very happy now that the sound can pass through the grill unhindered. All for the price, they're pretty darn good for really good sounding speakers for the price. As you know, they can sound worse on a different amp because they sound good on a Rockville amp. Not a problem at all as I have many homemade amps that I can try out for my shelving system in the machine shop. Not bad Singing Forest. Thanks very much!
