Review on Flash Furniture Height Adjustable Computer Furniture by Erika Brown

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Decent product but poor instructions and it comes with a dose of Ratio

Pros: Lightweight, easy to roll, relatively small footprint. This is a replacement for a larger and bulkier one. Contrary to some other reviews, mine is pretty strong. Holds my MacBook Pro and iPad Pro well, even side by side. Low price. The pneumatic cylinder works well, although you have to lean on the table to get it down, no problem. The pneumatic cylinders are meant to have some resistance, you don't want them to go up and down too easily. Let's see how long it lasts, I've only had it for a day. Cons: Before describing my assembly issues, I want to say that I am a motorcycle mechanic who is not new to assembling parts and using tools. The assembly instructions are less than outstanding. And here's why: On my instruction sheet, the picture of the top support shows a square base on which sits a round piece on which a square brace sits. The figure shows the end of the cylinder enclosed in this square bracket. I don't have square brackets. The instructions also tell you to remove the plastic plug from the end of the cylinder that fits into the bracket. Mine has a small white plastic cap (?). Gentle pulling with pliers will not loosen this cap. So I called Flash Furniture. I believe they are in Georgia (770-721-8391). Luckily the woman who answered spoke English. I swear she announced her name was Vicki. I also swear I heard another woman calling herself "Vicki" in the background. How many "Vicky" do you have there? I explained that I bought the product from Revain and gave the order number. After not being able to find the order number in her system, she said I must have bought it from Revain. For real? When I asked if anyone was familiar with this product, she arrogantly replied that they were dealers and sold thousands of products. But she will try to help. So I explained that the square bracket shown in the instructions is missing. She explained like a toddler that pictures are sometimes only approximations. Hmm, but for some reason the end of the cylinder doesn't have anything to fasten to. If I just push the lever, it pops up. Maybe it's because I can't remove the plastic plug. The plastic cap must be removed; you have to pull hard. So much for not knowing anything about your products. Well, she replied, that applies to all cylinders. Now this woman, who knows nothing about the thousands of products they sell, has become an expert on top hats. As I spoke to her, I pulled and pulled with increasing force, but if that piece of plastic should come loose, then I'm a frog. She barely hid her attitude behind her southern accent now. Eventually she said she would send me a replacement upper brace. What is my name and address? I started speaking at a normal rate, but I heard, ma'am, ma'am! Mom! I HAVE TO WRITE THIS SO YOU SHOULD RECORD! No problem. What about the cylinder where I just damaged the plastic part that she insisted I take off? She also sends a new cylinder. In the end, it's decent customer support, but I could do without the attitude.
