I have Sony noise canceling headphones that didn't sound in one ear until I twisted the cord at the plug. Suspecting that a wire in the connector was broken, I decided to give it a try. After some effort getting the extremely thin headphone cables properly into the contact area of the new plug, my headphones came alive and sounded like they were out of the box. And I still have the parts to fix the same issue on my next 4 headphones that have this issue! As other reviewers point out, the screws and pads are very small, and the wires of what you're trying to connect will most likely be the same. It may take several attempts before everything is properly connected. Once it's up and running, I recommend securing the cord to the outlet to minimize the chance of the cord coming loose. My only complaint is that there is no way to attach the wire/cable to the connector other than screws. By pulling the cord you will likely loosen the wires and have to redo it. I used duct tape to secure the wires and cable to the connector body and I gently pull the connector out by pulling on the connector body, not the cable. So far this works for me. If you're having trouble with headphones or headphones not working on one side, I recommend trying them out. For me, they were a cheap solution to an expensive problem.
