I’d been seeking an affordable set of wired headphones to monitor my synthesizer keyboard rack during set-up for recording, and super high-fidelity isn’t really required for that purpose. So far, my search has been in vain, but I’ve finally stuck gold with this product.Besides playing, I also record, mix, and master sound in my studio, so needless to say I humbly consider myself an audiophile. While doing so I use high-quality monitors, as well as much more expensive closed-back cans such as Marantz MPH-2’s.Naturally, when it comes to headphones, sound is of utmost importance. Considering their modest asking price, I must admit these completely blew me away. They have a very flat frequency response across the entire spectrum, without exaggerated bass or other undesirable traits.I’ve got quite a large head, which often proves to be a problem when it comes to fit. Although I had to extend their arms to maximum, in my case it was perfect. Further enhancing this is the top strap’s ability to bend and conform to your head shape. That’s a feature I’ve never run across before, on headphones of any price.In addition, they have several other unique features:- Built-in feed-through, which eliminates the need for splitters. It’s nice to be able to daisy-chain to a second set of headphones, or other outboard gear.- Volume attenuation switch which is handy to avoid blowing eardrums out, especially when used by kids.- Foldable for travel, complete with a draw-string storage bag.I do wish the cord was a bit longer, but realize they’re mainly intended to be used with nearby devices such as smartphones. Really no biggie there, as it was nothing that couldn’t be quickly remedied by simply adding a 3.5mm extension cord.While these obviously can’t come close to the sound quality of my high-end headphones, they are more than suitable for casual, every day listening… Easily the best I’ve tried in this price range.
