This is a small black hard plastic box with slots for slides, a thin cork at the bottom, index paper for slides at the top, 2 plastic hinges, 1 metal clasp. It does its job and looks good enough. One star off because the slots are too wide and the slides wobble and rattle. In fact, the top edges of adjacent slides may collide, causing them to break. Microscope slides have a fairly constant thickness, so there's no reason to make the slits too wide. Don't ship your collection in it unless you add a piece of foam rug or something to keep it from rocking. Otherwise this is a nice little slide box at a reasonable price and I will buy another one if the need arises. .
