I got this radio because I wanted to experiment with something. When I received it, the text of the manual was mostly written in Chinese with some numbers and English letters, but most of the information was in Chinese. It took about 2 hours to put the kit together and really needed some thin solder because the board is so small. It covers the AM and FM bands with two different chips. One chip is an SMD component that is the heart of the FM tuner and the other is a two-pin chip that is the heart of the AM tuner. You can modify the receiver and do whatever you want with this set. I know I have to be careful next time and solder the SMD part very carefully right after soldering the passive components. I would like Revain to offer replacement ICs for this receiver kit. The FM tuner is like those DSP tuner chips because when listening to the FM band it tunes straight to a frequency and locks in place and the AM tuner is like a radio IC kit I built and he has a wide AM tuning and is mostly in pickups strong local AM stations and some distant like semi-local ones. Would I recommend this to a friend? Yes I know but my friend will use the right tools for the right job like the right soldering iron to solder SMD components.
