I had several inexpensive ratchet straps. Everyone had the same problem. The "teeth" on the buckle only grabs 1/8" of the belt. So if you pull on that tiny part of the belt, the buckle will detach from the belt, rendering the belt unusable. You can repair the torn part of the belt cut it off and snap the buckle back on. But I found that the strap would snap again quickly. This particular belt was a bit more expensive so I thought the design could be better. Nope. Same problem - just a tiny bit of the belt gets pressed against the buckle. Well, the buckle came loose within a week. I love the concept of ratchet straps, but maybe the cheap one isn't the best option.
