A few years ago I discovered open back headphones. I bought them because I need to be able to hear what's going on in the room I'm in and at the same time have excellent sound quality. The upside is that closed-back headphones make it seem like the sound source is inside your head, while open-back headphones make it sound like you're in the same environment as the noise. It's not really better or worse, just personal preference. Anyway I like it. My previous 2 pairs of open backs are grados. They are good but I wanted to try something new. Both of my Grados had cords that broke on me. I saw that the cord on them can be changed. HUGE bonus, I can just replace the new cable if it breaks. But what I didn't expect was how much better the build quality is on them. I also find them more comfortable. Grados is ok but I think I switched to Sennheiser.
