The stand is very sturdy and heavy. We are having trouble installing the vertical component on the base. The holes were too small for screws. We need to drill through holes in the base and enlarge the guide holes in the vertical part. Bamboo is NOT soft, so large holes are needed. We discovered this by removing the heads of the included #6 screws. Also, either the base or the vertical aren't flat, so we can see a small gap for dirt to collect. My wife likes the design and capacity more than the knife block so we're keeping the magnetic block.
