For years I've wanted to make a steampunk kaleidoscope, something with brass on the outside but with gears to see inside instead of the usual glass beads. Trying to find or make a non-standard kaleidoscope was either too expensive, too difficult, or too "childish trick", and many kaleidoscopes are generally unplayable. I'm so glad I found this one! It unscrews very easily and then screws back on at the end, allowing me to remove the colored glass and plastic beads and replace them with real watch mechanisms and rhinestones from old broken vintage jewelry. I have attached a picture of my internal modification (this is not what you get when you buy it).
