Review on BrosTrend 650Mbps Linux WiFi Adapter: High-Speed Connectivity for Ubuntu, Mint, Kali, Debian, and more, with Long Range External 5dBi Antenna by Gerard Hudson

I installed this on a Dell Optiplex 755 desktop with no Wi-Fi. It dual boots Windows 10 and Ubuntu Linux 18.04. On Windows, the supplied CD contained all the files required for installation. As suggested in the quickstart, I ran Setup.exe, it started fine and that was it. On Ubuntu, you need to download the package from the vendor's repository. This is less secure than delivery on CD. It also means that you cannot install unless you already have internet access on the computer prior to launch. So I had to plug an ethernet cable into the car to set up WiFi. The installation script ran without errors, but ended up with an error message that occurred after the script reported a successful installation. I didn't contact tech support because the wifi worked fine after running the script, so I didn't care. Higher speeds are of course available with other hardware, but for my old USB 2.0 device and wireless modem/router (Comcast) that supports 802.11n instead of 802.11ac, this is a great inexpensive solution that's almost as fast as you can get . I ran the March Windows 10 Patch Tuesday Update with it and it seemed to be faster than ever on my 1GB wired connection. (Internet and Microsoft servers are probably bottlenecks anyway.) I'm currently streaming 1080p video from the Internet and don't see any issues. For the antenna you need a small gap around the connector, a few centimeters long. It can be adjusted between 90 and 180 degrees, but you can position it where you have the fastest speed.
