As a good Venezuelan, I cook arepas every day. The size of the arepa is perfect (3.5 inches in diameter and 0.5 inches high). To get crispy arepas, I recommend: 1) preheating the arepa maker, 2) removing excess batter, and 3) opening the arepa maker mid-cooking to release steam. Arepas are very similar to those made in Arepa Easter Toasts.
