The BLACK+DECKER 3-in-1 Infrared Thermometer is designed to easily determine the temperature of children or adults, or to measure the temperature of objects. This is an easy to use thermometer, but I found it confusing at first. Of course, if you just turn it on without bringing it near a person or object (in this mode), the screen will say "Lo". My first reaction was that the batteries that came with it might be low and I replaced them only to get the same reading. So after checking the manual, which I was supposed to read first, I found that it had to be close to the person's forehead or ear and held there until the second beep to get an accurate reading. What I like about this thermometer is that it uses standard size batteries. With other models I got very frustrated when I had to check the temperature and then found that a new button battery was needed and not the one I had in reserve. I always have a fresh supply of AAA batteries so I don't have to worry about getting new ones when I need them. the temperature is within the normal range, subfebrile or high fever. It stores the readings in memory so you can easily see if the temperature is rising or falling. It feels very solid and the readings appear to be accurate.
