Big, but not too big! If I pack it with heavy things it will be a burden, but I use it for books and everyday things and it's not too heavy. I like that the strap can be short (for elbow wear) or long (for shoulder wear - think I'd want to wear a winter jacket on the elbow with three kids?) and there are three easy-access external pockets (I'm digging not in the winter handbag for the keys, I just put it in one of the outside zippered pockets, and all three have zippers). The inside has an open slit, a zip slit, and another open slit (allowing my books to slide in easily, but my "lady's paraphernalia" might be obscured by the center slit). Two open pockets in one open slot and one zip pocket in another open slot. The top of the bag zips up so I don't have to worry about pickpockets. Honestly, this bag is a lifesaver: space for everything, easy organization of my stuff, good closures and a strong shoulder strap! This is my new favorite bag and if I won the lottery I would buy a few and give them to my friends.
