Runs small and zipper broke

I ordered the 9-12 month. My son is in the 3 percentile for his weight and around 10-15 percent in height. He just turned 11 months yesterday from pictures taken. I had actually set this onsie aside about 2-3 weeks ago since I felt it was too tight especially length wise but my husband grabbed it out of the pile and put it on him today. I don’t know how a baby in the middle range to higher end of percentile would fit in this up until 12 months.
