Again, time will determine its ability to prevent rust. What may have happened is the product ran on rusty metal but also had excess product that was white with no rust. This white material may not have ink holding power and will wash off over time leaving a hardened reverted material underneath - just a guess. In any case, I got a hardened black finish instead of a rusty one. somehow neutralized. This turned white and remained white with no evidence of rust reaction.
