Well water is almost always clean. But sometimes you have to put up with fine silt. Usually 5 micron filters (white fiber) are used, which work quite well in most cases. But silt will pass them as the waters deteriorate. So I thought I'd try these 1 micron filters. They don't filter the water completely as some of the mud still penetrates even 1 micron. The water is just cloudy, not dirty like 5 micron filters. HOWEVER, in muddy conditions, these filters will clog and need to be replaced every few days. So you're paying a lot more for filters that clog to a trickle in a short amount of time and fight sludge. No branding or design issues. Whirlpool signature filter. You need to flush them for a few minutes when you first install them. The taste of the water is normal, but I haven't gone back to clear water with no silt yet, so I can't give a real review. Filters are made in China.
