very light plastic, you can feel it flexing when you screw it on. Very low power output.

Very light construction so don't expect it to last very long. I can see it will help you survive an emergency, but other than that I would doubt it's permanent. You can feel the very thin plastic case flexing in your hand as you scroll. If they added $0.50 more plastic it would be very durable. load 1 watt. generally slows down and charge rate drops to 0, 5 W when the voltage falls below 5 volts. Spinning very fast does not increase charging speed or cause power surges. So if you spin at a constant speed for 5-10 minutes, you will hopefully get enough charge to make a call. I suggest getting a longer cable and having someone keep rolling until you call. Calculate how much time you can reduce by 1/4 the time you can do. So 10 minutes start is 2.5 minutes talk time. It won't even charge a drained cellphone enough to even turn it on. With a 1W charge, you have to crank it up for almost an hour to get enough juice in a modern dead smartphone to turn it on. I highly recommend pairing this with a small "USB battery" every time you just sit there, start this thing to charge the small USB battery. For the price it's better than nothing but if you want something that is a REAL emergency charger you'll need to spend a lot more and I suggest getting a large foldable solar panel first. (Unless the panel is almost 5-10 times the size of your phone, it's useless.) The ETON Boost Turbine is better and has a built-in battery, but you'll only be charging around 2-3W with its crank. The reality is, you don't want to use a crank to charge your phone. (Unless the panel is almost 5-10 times the size of your phone, it's useless.) Pros
  • Easy to use and portable: crank for 1 minute to generate enough power for 10 minutes of lighting! Or use it to charge your smartphone or other device. Thanks to the sturdy carabiner, you can take it with you wherever you go.
Cons
  • Out of fashion
