Review on Upgrade Your Studio Gear with Audio-Technica ATH-M40x Professional Studio Monitor Headphones: 90-Degree Swiveling Earcups, Pro-Grade Earpads/Headband, and Detachable Cables by A Phichet Seedok ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A wonderful product, it's nice to use.

In terms of price / sound quality - an excellent choice. I don’t like bass, so I specifically looked for headphones specifically for good vocals, which I got. I recommend listening before buying, so that later you will not be disappointed by the lack of bass or volume. I took them on order at a big discount, and the sound was not that disappointing, but it just didn’t turn out the way I expected, and only for this 4 stars and for the ear pads. The rest is a complete 5. (added 06/14/17): Only recently came ear pads for $15. How much more convenient they have become is simply beyond words. Now I can listen for hours without any discomfort. And you don't even need to stretch them. Really it was difficult to deliver such at once and not to torment users. Taki are only in MSR-7. All photos are in the description. Regarding the volume that I wrote about, as I understand it, this is just a difference in the width of the stage. Those. in the plugs the instruments seem to play in front of the nose, while in the M40x they play a little far away, it turns out that the instruments are slightly muffled and the vocals stand out above the sound of the instruments. Some tracks sound good. Some are deaf. Everything is completely amateur. Those. in fact, this is not a drawback, just a difference in the scene characteristic of most full-size headphones. And given the fact that the headphones are positioned as professional, not portable, then this is exactly the sound they should have. In general, I do not advise you to ever buy headphones based on reviews or reviews. The sound is all very specific to each user. The result is this. You should definitely listen before buying, and be sure to check on different tracks and genres. This is not a phone or a laptop, you need to listen to the sound because everyone has different tastes.

Pros
  • Great sound for its price. Not perfect, but very good. (More in the comment) Gorgeous vocals. If you need headphones to hear a clear voice, then these headphones are just for you.
Cons
  • Convenience. Cable. Personally, I lack volume in terms of sound. (Wide Stage) Headphones are not comfortable on my head. After 10 minutes of listening, they put pressure on the ears. I ordered more comfortable Aliexpress + ear pads for the night, put them on a wide object to stretch. It became more or less. (More in the comment) The cable needs to be purchased. But since I listen to most of the time at home, I decided to save on them. The sound is good and pleasant. The vocals are especially cool. I have never heard such vocals in any headphones under $100, but it seemed to me that there was not enough volume, or something. I especially feel this after I take off my two-driver plugs and put on the m40x. But for the price, it's just nitpicking. (More in the comment)

Has some pros Sufficiently clear sound and detailed sound, if you buy the SonarWorks program, they become linear-monitor. Has cons: Rigid, dense ear pads. After a few hours of listening, you get tired.

In terms of price / quality ratio, this is one of the best headphones. Use exclusively with Sonarworks Reference.
