Review on Foto4Easy NP FW50 Coupler Battery DSC RX10 by Michael Schwegman

I am an electrical engineer. The working principle of this product is that it has a tiny DC/DC boost converter circuit with a switch that needs to convert 5V from USB to around 7.4V to match the voltage of a real NP-FW50 battery. didn't work, the camera wouldn't turn on, so I used a multimeter to measure the output voltage and it only gave 5V. That's too low for the camera to work. This also means that the switch mode DC/DC boost converter circuit will not work. I opened it up and checked the circuit and I can see that the circuit is literally missing the entire bridged component. Don't waste time on further diagnostics. I wouldn't buy this one, if you need something like this look for another one with better circuitry. (You can find out which power supply is included in the scope of delivery)
