We have 2 cats, 2 dogs, and 2 kids and our biggest concerns with purchasing a rug for our living room was:- easy to clean because it will need to be cleaned often- cats can knead at it with no "visible" damage- needs to stay put when dogs and kids play on it- soft for our feet in a house with nothing but cold tileIt met all our expectations! I absolutely love that I can put it in the wash although the instructions specifically say not to wash "too often" it's still absolutely amazing for its price! It is NOT very thick by any means so it's definitely not something I'm going to lay on for a long period of time, but it's soft to the touch and looks really nice, and very easy to clean so I say these other characteristics more than make up for that :)
