Avoid water filters at all costs

I bought this filter hoping it would save me a few bucks, shortly after installing the filter I noticed an unusual taste and decided I needed a few gallons would use. it goes through the filter. After a few weeks of use, not only did the smell not go away, but my water began to take on a strong chemical odor. I replaced the filter with standard GE filters in minutes. The smell disappeared and the water tasted normal.
