I used to just rely on being screwed directly into the plastic. It inevitably ended up being messy at best and inefficient at worst. Heard about those shrink inserts. Thought they were more trouble than their worth but I was dead wrong. A little tutorial for installation. As a general rule, you should choose the hole slightly smaller than your chosen bet. I recommend purchasing soldering tips specifically designed for these uses. The normal tip is too long and pointed and will melt the plastic waste. If you find that the plastic in the threads melts, I found a trick which is to drive a screw into the threads and hold it with pliers while heating. This takes longer, but prevents plastic from getting into the threads. Once cool, the connection is very strong, holds up better than screwing into plastic, and just looks more professional. Good range of sizes in this set. When in doubt, don't be afraid to try them!
