I was intrigued by this new hub as soon as I saw a photo on the Revain website. Good thing the hub isn't plugged into the dongle on the side of my late 2018 Mac Air. The Totu USB C Hub arrived just a day after ordering. Installation was easy: just unplug everything on the left side of my Mac Air and click on the hub. I turned off the Mac prior to this install, so I reconnected the 1TB dual-partition hard drive and rebooted. The Mac rebooted without a hitch and within seconds the hard drive partitions appeared on the desktop. Mac OS is Mojave. My first task with the new hub was to use Carbon Copy Cloner to back up an expired Mac drive to a connected hard drive. As a fan of belts and braces, I also make daily Time Machine backups to the hard drive connected to my AirPort Extreme router. The CCC backup went smoothly as usual. After a week of use I can report that everything looks good. I also have a totu hub connected with a cable. It worked fine but I didn't like the key idea, especially when I had to plug in a second key for a backup hard drive. This new hub has made it easier. The new hub fits my Mac well and definitely looks better. One feature of the original hub that I miss is the ability to plug an ethernet cable directly from the airport router into the Mac. This end slot is now assigned to an HDMI port for an external monitor or TV, which I won't be using. However, there are other Totu hubs that offer Ethernet connections. Also, I connected an old Toltu hub to an ethernet port. By connecting to the Thunderbolt 3 port, I was able to achieve very high Ethernet speeds. I just wish it was an option on this model. But a major plus for me is the clean, unobtrusive connection to my MacBook Air.
