Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Nintendo Wii U Deluxe Set: Super Mario 3D World and Nintendo Land Bundle (32 GB, Black) by Fisseha Rodgers

With an Xbox One and a Playstation 4 I really didn't want to buy a WiiU but my wife wanted one for her birthday and had no choice. The day we got the WiiU, we couldn't just plug it in and play. We had about an hour and a half to set up and update the firmware and every little thing you installed has a success popup message that you have to click OK. Once the WiiU was set up, you had to wait another 10-15 minutes to update all the games you wanted to play and those small file updates took forever. I deducted a star for that. With the WiiU set up around 10pm, we finally played some of the quality games we've been waiting for from Nintendo. We played Super Mario World 3D that came with it and it was top notch. The co-op is very well done and the graphics looked great (1080p). Nintendo land was fine, some fun mini-games that showcase the WiiU's capabilities. Ghost Hunt was our favorite game. The WiiU hardware is small, slightly longer than a full-size external hard drive enclosure. Looks great, black color shines. The WiiU Pad is light for its size and feels good in the hand, with a battery life of around 5-6 hours. The touchscreen isn't capacitive like on modern smartphones, but it does its job well. The controls are top-notch, as you'd expect from Nintendo. Load times are faster than PS4 or Xbox One. The operating system is very similar to the original Wii interface, but with some minor improvements. A Mii screen playing on a TV or switching to a gamepad showing a circle of random games and Mii runs is meaningless. I'm not sure what Nintendo was trying to do here. The actual icon interface is very similar to the old IOS interface where you can save games in folders and switch pages if you like. In general, there aren't many third-party games. If you want to play Nintendo games and have a Playstation 4 or Xbox One, I recommend it. There are about 5 or 6 great Nintendo games (9.0 or so) for WiiU and hopefully a new Zelda (probably coming out in 2016) but that's about it. I really like Nintendo games so it cost us $300 to buy it, but I won't be playing any third party games on it, I'll leave that to the big consoles.
