That's partly my fault. I should have researched more. It was also a goal to find a 'cheap' balance bike for my son to start driving and also for my daughters. steering wheel ALT. The packaging (inside) looked new, zip ties where they were, etc. My first indication that I hadn't done my homework was that the packaging was damaged. There isn't a big one. We continue. Modern, relevant things plug and play. Most of time. More complex sticks and peripherals will require drivers etc. Thrustmaster has quite a few. When I plugged in my friend's steering wheel, the Windows 10 computer recognized it and it was a great test. When I finally got this, the steering wheel and pedals were not recognized. OK. time for troubleshooting. Hm. Go to the Thrustmaster support page. Ah, wheels. Insert model and. Oh, there's a newer version of this wheel. Hm. don't choose that. Select the steering wheel you want, download the drivers. A message will appear bringing the drivers from the 2006 standard to the 2018 standard. THE? Ok, first it goes to the 2006 standard, then it can only bring it to the 2018 standard, which is still about 2+ years old. When I checked for drivers, nothing has been updated since mid-2018, which means Thrustmaster no longer supports a steering wheel with updated drivers. Now I know it's old and not maintained. I found a setup guide using the Thrusmaster setup tool, but that too is outdated. Still does not work. Thrustmaster's Windows instructions didn't provide a single detail, so I had to go and talk to my Google friends. It turned out that I had to disconnect, then press/hold a button, reconnect while standing on one leg, crossing my eyes and saying "long live the lady" to change the configuration setting in the actual wheel . It also turns out that this guide was for Windows 7. Further proof that this is a SUPER old steering wheel. He changed the configuration to revert to a Windows XP-like configuration interface. for joysticks. It can't be, but after another 20 minutes of arguing, it was the only option I had left. So.,. Disconnect/Reconnect - Hold/HailMarry/Squint. and open the racing game Boom. it works. I still had to adjust the steering axle and pedals manually, but hey, it works. What a complete headache. Bottom line: if I had done better research, I would NOT have bought this bike, saved my penny and told my son to make a little COOL and buy something fresher.
