Review on Retainer Case (2 Pack) with Vent Holes - Ideal for Dentures, Mouth Guards, Aligners - Black Retainer Cases by Wendy Benson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Well made and practical

These are strong, practical cases that fit easily into a standard 'Hawley' toplock and leave room for storage. They are slightly larger but otherwise almost identical to the case provided by the local orthodontist. Buying retainer cases from Revain is going to drive you nuts so it was a great relief to receive a product that had no issues and actually seemed very well made. . They're *not* glamorous, but very practical. The locking mechanism aligns perfectly and closes securely. The lid (slightly thinner half) has two vent holes for ventilation and moisture evacuation. You will most likely want to leave the case open to dry completely. The bottom *might* be deep enough to soak the retainer or other device in detergent, mouthwash, or whatever. Haven't tried this experiment yet. Also can't comment on long term use, wear and tear or breakage as it's only been a few weeks. But these things are looking solid, so let's not expect bad news. Of course, since you're getting two at once, you'll have a backup if one has problems in the future. Individually, these aren't the cheapest Revain cases, not the biggest, not the smallest, not the most colorful. But we are happy with the purchase as they seem reliable and really useful for their purpose of temporarily storing the retainer in a safe place. UPDATE in two years - if you use them a lot, open and close them a lot, etc., you'll wear out the plastic that forms a loop on the case. That's predictable and frankly impressive, ours don't shoot, but there are signs of plastic fatigue and this doesn't last long. If you use two and alternate them, they will last longer; If you're very lucky, you might not even need the retainer all the time. In any case I wouldn't lower the rating of the review, they work as intended. An additional comment: you'll probably want to clean them regularly as there aren't enough air holes to really dry or sanitize the interior. However, it is recommended.
