Recently I bought a brown "large" size. I saw reviews that said this one almost burned down their house, but I took the risk and thought maybe it was just an accident. NO, THAT IS NOT SO. I have had this product for less than a month. I noticed from the start that even at setting 40 (recommended for dogs) when folded, even the smallest details stick. which made me think that heat melts plastic. I went ahead and still used it on my dog because she loved it. She hadn't used it for the past few nights, which was odd given how cold it was. I woke up this morning and my room smelled like something was burning. I touched the heater badly and it was VERY hot. I immediately unplugged it and removed the lid once it had cooled down a bit to see that a hole had been burned right through the outer plastic. He also had brown burn marks. I'm pretty sure if I hadn't been home it could easily have burned. I feel so bad it could have burned my baby all along and I had no idea. Now I also want to add that it was BIG BROWN. And I say that because this one actually replaced the medium red one I bought a year ago. This one stopped working 2 days before this one and my dog couldn't sleep without it so I bought her a bigger one as I needed to replace it anyway. The middle one was perfect. Never got too hot and never burned, nothing. I have no idea why they are so different since it was the same seller?! And with this product. Maybe they are from different manufacturers? I have no idea but please be careful! Oh, and I didn't keep it all day either. It only worked at night and I always turned it off when I woke up.
