We bought this DVD player less than a year ago and are absolutely thrilled to this day. It has turned long car rides with a toddler from a harrowing experience into a joyful one. In fact, she got excited about road trips because she could watch movies all the time. But today we got in the car, started the DVD player as usual, and whatever DVD we put in it wouldn't play smoothly. It kept freezing and bouncing and couldn't seem to play DVDs smoothly. It cannot load some DVDs at all, even though it has loaded the same DVDs in the past. Now we're boarding a plane with a very active toddler with no portable DVD player! I called Sony and they said the warranty covers parts but not labor and labor will be $137! That's double what I originally paid for the player. And they wouldn't just send me a new player. Sony seems to have very little faith in this product when the warranty is so weak. We have only used this DVD player a couple of times and have taken great care with it by storing it in a soft case so I'm pretty sure the problem is with the product.
